Chapter 07 · The knowledge map of the store

Everything Polymagnet sells

polymagnet.com is a Shopify storefront with roughly 200 SKUs. This page maps all of it — what each thing is, what it costs, and what it’s for — as a knowledge resource. To buy any of it, go to polymagnet.com; this site sells nothing.

Start here: the Demo Kit — $149

Polymagnet Demo Kit 1002031 · $149

The canonical introduction — eight magnet pairs plus tools, each demonstrating one behavior:

Individual demo pairs sell separately: Conventional $16 · High-Force $21 · Rotational-Align $42 · Spring / Latch / Twist / Spring-Latch $52 each. Viewing film $16 (small) / $91 (large). Function pairs run $7–$45.

Polyvision — the design software · $4,999/yr

Maxel-level magnet CAD: pick catalog functions or paint custom patterns, with real-time field visualization, then export to a printer. This is the “magnetization became software” layer — the actual product of the company, arguably, with magnets as its output format. “Programmed in minutes, not weeks” is the pitch vendor claim.

Magnetizers

PolydeskDesktop magnetizing printer.
PolylabLab-scale system.
Polymag 6.2Current full-size platform. (Lineage: MagPrinter 2013 → Mini MagPrinter 2014, ~$45k — see Manufacturing.)

Custom solutions

Custom pattern design, prototyping (“minutes or hours vs months” vendor claim), force testing, training, and volume sourcing through partners — the services wrapper around the printer.

Polymagnet University

The free education layer: eight webinars — Demystifying Polymagnets, Magnetic Design at the Speed of Thought, Reducing Rare-Earth Use, Net-Shape Manufacturing, Smart Magnets for Product Design, Precision Alignment, Differentiate Your Design — plus ~20 education/news posts (function explainers, the NASA Prandtl-M article, patent milestones, and press reposts from Popular Mechanics, TechCrunch and AL.com, including the Obama demo and SmarterEveryDay).

Reading the store as evidence. A $149 demo kit, a $4,999/yr CAD seat, ~$45k printers and function pairs at $7–52 describe a company selling capability to engineers, not components to BOMs — consistent with a category still measured in design wins. The FAQ is notably honest: flux-circuit shaping, sub-2 mm gaps, NiCuNi coating, RoHS/REACH, and Earnshaw’s theorem cited against levitation dreams.
